We provide education and training in schools across Italy and several other EU Countries, by fostering conversations between students and migrants throughout the years. We spread the voices and stories of those who survived the journey to seek asylum across schools, and each year we gather groups of students in Lampedusa – a place that became the symbol of migration in Italy.
We strongly believe that raising awareness of migration issues is the first essential step towards a change in the current EU policies.
Since 2014 our activities have involved more than 30.000 students from 150 schools of 20 EU countries.

Seeds of Lampedusa is the itinerant activity that is carried out throughout the year in Italian and European schools.
The aim of the project is to create opportunities for dialogue among students and migrants with to disseminate first hand knowledge on the migration issue.
Today it also involves several schools that, even if they haven't visited the island, are interested in deeping the knowledge of this topic.

Day of Remembrance and Reception
Since 2014, Comitato has brought to Lampedusa more than 800 students 20 EU countries for the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance and Reception.
The four-day event takes place on Lampedusa island and aims at raising the awareness of young generations about migration, reception, cultural integration and human rights.
The project specifically aims at:
- Providing young eu students with structured non-formal education programmes by fostering their active participation in workshops, documentary screenings, seminars, meetings with migrants, activists and refugees
- Building an European network of schools to play a more active role in the field of migration, migrant reception and in the fight against discrimination
From 2015 to 2017 the project – called "Europe begins at Lampedusa" - was funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration fund (AMIF).
In 2019, from 30th September to 3rd October Comitato Tre Ottobre visited Lampedusa to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Day of Remembrance and Reception with the project “P(r)onti per l’Accoglienza” (Ready for Reception), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, University and Research, Lampedusa and Linosa municipality, G. Marconi High School (Pesaro) and the support of Compagnia San Paolo.
The project was carried out in partnership with several organisations, including Doctors without Border (MSF), Amnesty International, UndeRadio (Save the Children), the National Association of Civil Victims of War, the Association Carta di Roma, the Jesuit Refugee Service, the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta, the Legambiente ASSOCIATION OF Lampedusa, THE Esther Ada ASSOCIATION, the International Organization for Migration (IOM ) and the UNHCR.
